The Team

	Shooting PD Gabriel Manrique is an independent documentary filmmaker who focuses on social and environmental issues. His films are inspired by the many experiences given by a life of traveling throughout the world. He has studied, filmed and worked in South America, North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and more recently in Africa. He believes documentary can appeal to a broader audience and can promote real social change thanks to its accessibility and its creative potential. Gabriel's films have been screen around the world, at numerous international film festivals and arts organisations.
	Shooting PD Jordie Montevecchi is a freelance documentary filmmaker with a background in social anthropology. As a director, producer, cameraman and editor for Matchbox Media, he is inspired by the exploration of cultural diversity and the challenge of representing this through film. He has frontline experience working in pre- and post-production for broadcasters such as Sky Italia. Jordie's passion lies in using video documentary to address important social issues, and in pioneering new ways by which factual programming can bring about meaningful change in society.
	Photographer Francesca is a freelance photographer based in London. Her work has taken her across the globe, from Sicily to Thailand via India, and combines her twin passions: travel and people. She graduated as a 'master' of photography from Cfp R. Bauer in Milan and has since worked freelance for a number of respected international publications. Her photojournalism focuses on the social issues that are often neglected by mainstream media, whether it's the following the plight of North African economic refugees or documenting the struggle of Cape Verdean fishing communities to survive.
	Sound Recordist, Sound Designer and Composer Mirco Buonomo is a freelance sound engineer and musician, with focused work experience in broadcasting. From 2006 he worked for RAI Radio Televisione Italiana as sound engineer, dealing with music production, sound design and studio monitoring. He graduated in Sound Engineering and Recording at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale of Saluzzo and he completed a Bachelor's degree in Music and New Technologies at the Conservatory of Frosinone. His most recent work was in Cape Verde, as sound engineer and composer on Matchbox Media's documentary film Sandgrains.
	Underwater Cameraman/Photographer Andrew Sutton was the underwater camera operator on Sandgrains. He has 20 years diving and filming experience around the world and has worked with numerous international organisations, including WDCS, WWF and BBC NHU. He has also worked with renowned author Philip Hoare to produce articles on cetaceans. For over 12 years, Drew has been principle videographer with the Rwandan Genocide NGO Survivors Fund UK and recently with a social orphanage in Granada, Nicaragua. He is the co-founder of Eco2 Diving & Marine Research in Tanzania, and NiceImages London & Madrid.
	Editor Naiara Seara is an enthusiastic and versatile film editor and motion graphic designer with over 9 years solid experience in broadcast TV and motion graphic designing. She graduated in Audiovisual Communication and has a master´s degree in Documentary narratives from the Basque Country University. She is passionate about digital media. Everything from motion graphics to design, edition and photography. She is always looking for new ways to express her ideas and to do that her computer and camera are her best friends. 	Associate Producers Alma and Leo Masino is a couple of 55 who likes to travel and explore new horizons, to look for places that are still natural and learn the way of life of other people. This is why as soon as they can, they just take the plane and leave. They believe in young people who have the strength and desire to reach their goals even if the path is long and often difficult. Their hope is there will be other people, that even with a small contribution, can help these guys realise their dreams.
	Associate Producers Pierluigi Montevecchi and Cristina Beatriz Domingues are an Italo-Brazilian family working in real estate and as psychologist specializing in Criminology. They are living in Brazil since 2004 and are concerned with the world they will leave to their children. This is why they contribute to this type of documentary productions that awaken the conscience. They realise that in Cape Verde the embargo penalizes only the poorest people, who are thus more prone to exploitation. They hope that this will be the first of many productions ...

	Production Fixer Jeny and Mandela are two of the many nephews of Zé. They have been some of the most helpful people that sorted out logistics for the documentary.		Pre Production Fixer Demici Gama Martins is a local guide from Ribeira da Barca, and has been always very helpful with getting us in contact with the people we where looking for and for translating into the local creole.
	Outreach Assistant Ali Rickey is the outreach assistant making all our research worthwhile. He works on getting contacts, setting up meetings and finding people and organizations interested in supporting the documentary project.		Outreach Assistant Nik Karlsson dealt with promotion and administration of our project whilst we were on the field. He also helped us with the London Event and with gaphic design.
	Supporter Lisa Mellegard donated a Canon Eos 7D Camera.		Editor Karla Guimaraes edited our trailer.
	Grader Filippo Bianchi graded and color corrected our trailer.		Translator João Rosa made the Portuguese subtitles for the trailer.
